Preparation of rabbits for the exhibition season
If you want your rabbit to perform its best at an exhibition, it must have an optimal condition, weight and perfect supple and shiny fur. Only then the animal can show its beauty conditioned by the genetic makeup in a range of external signs including color and texture. “Perfect” nutrition is one of the core measures.
To make the most of the animals’ potential, components improving the quality of fur, such as biotin, methionine, zinc, vegetable oils and others need to be added to the feeding mixture.
This type of fodder should be optimally given to rabbits already before the start of the third molting, at least 8 to 12 weeks before the exhibition. Linseed or sunflower seed has been traditionally used as a supplement (the entire feeding dose must be balanced in terms of protein and energy) and feeding mixtures specifically formulated for exhibition rabbits are now available.
